History: Designed by America's Cup designer Doug Peterson for Hank Thayer to compete in the 1979 Worlds held in Seattle. She also spent some time named California after being donated to the University of California at Berkeley. Harry Hofmann and his son, Peter, acquired her from the school in the early 80's and she spent some time laid up until this year. Discovery was recently restored just in time for the 2000 North American Championships, narrowly placing 2nd in that regatta. Due to some rot in her balsa-cored deck, she received extensive repair, a reworking of her running rigging, new sails and fantastic Endeavour blue topside paint.
